DARK Scotch Base: When a Standard Base Is Not Enough

DARK Scotch Base: When a Standard Base Is Not Enough

Categories : Gel polish , Nail extensions

When a coating fails to hold, the problem is rarely the coating itself — it usually starts underneath. DARK Scotch Base addresses exactly that: a mid-acid primer with pH 4 that creates the conditions for lasting adhesion where standard bases fall short.

What the Product Is

Scotch Base is not a standalone base coat and not a levelling product. It is an adhesion primer applied as the first layer before hard materials, camouflage bases, low-acid base coats, and when working with gel tips for nail extensions. Its role is strictly defined: to prepare the nail plate for the coating — not to shape or build it.

How It Works

The mid-acid formula acts on the surface of the nail plate at a molecular level, creating a chemically active zone for the layers that follow. This is why Scotch Base performs where neutral and low-acid products deliver insufficient results — under dense, heavy coatings and during nail extensions.

The consistency is formulated to keep the layer controlled: the base does not bleed beyond the cuticle line, spreads evenly, and self-levels slightly without any additional effort. The structure is flexible without being overly soft — an important quality when working with rigid materials.

Key Characteristics

  • pH 4 — mid-acid level, optimal for adhesion under demanding coatings.
  • Controlled consistency — does not spread, applies in a thin layer without effort.
  • Self-levelling — even coverage without additional work.
  • Flexibility — compatible with hard materials without risk of delamination.
  • Clear formula — does not affect the colour or tone of subsequent coatings.

Who It Is For

Scotch Base is developed for professional nail technicians working with hard gels, camouflage bases, and gel tips for extensions. The product is not intended for retail or home use. It must not be used by those prone to allergic reactions or with known sensitivity to any of the ingredients — consult a medical professional if in doubt.

Application Steps

  1. Perform the manicure, shape the nails, and remove shine from the nail surface with a buffer.
  2. Degrease the surface, apply Dehydrator, then Ultrabond.
  3. Apply a thin layer of Scotch Base — strictly thin, without product build-up near the cuticle. Cure for 60 seconds in a DARK lamp.
  4. Apply the main coating: camouflage base, gel polish, or strengthening material. When strengthening, remove the tacky layer first.
  5. Finish with a top coat. Cure for 90 seconds.

Important Notes

Mid-acid products must never be applied in thick layers — excess material on the nail plate creates a risk of chemical burn. Scotch Base is used exclusively as a primer and does not replace a levelling base. Original DARK lamps are recommended to ensure correct curing.

Advantages

  • Solves adhesion issues when working with heavy and dense coatings.
  • Suitable for nail extensions with gel tips — provides a reliable foundation.
  • No complex application technique required — the consistency is forgiving of minor imprecisions.
  • Certified to European standards, registered in the CPNP system.
  • DARK products are not tested on animals.

Summary

DARK Scotch Base addresses one specific task: creating a reliable adhesion foundation under materials that require a firm base. The mid-acid formula with pH 4, controlled consistency, and broad compatibility with professional coatings make it a practical tool in professional nail services — with no extra steps and no compromise.
